IBIZA

For such a tiny island, Ibiza packs a powerful punch when it comes to nightlife. Arguably the Clubbing Capital of the World, no destination is more synonymous with partying in the Med than Ibiza. Every summer partygoers come in their thousands to see their favourite DJs in the legendary nightclubs and laidback sunset venues that call Ibiza home. AMNESIA: This is the legendary club that claims to have invented the Balearic Beat. Difficult as it is to believe the venue, originally an 18th century farmhouse, now houses 2 vast dance floors capable of holding 5,000 frenetic dancers. For absolute auditory excellence Amnesia's big booming sound system it still one of the best.

USHUAIA: For an outdoor day party, stylish Ushuaïa begins with groovy beats on its poolside stage before heating up on the massive main stage. Since opening in 2011 it has fast become the place to be! Their festival style parties bring live performances from some of the best DJs in the world. HVAR

Considerably smaller and less developed than Ibiza Hvar is another favorite island in the Med and her reputation as Croatia's premier party town is well deserved. It's 13th century walls, ornamental Gothic palaces and palm-dotted pedestrian only marble streets provide an elegant backdrop for the estimated 20,000 visitors that flock here on a daily basis. As well as being one of Croatia's best preserved medieval towns it is also the nearest thing that Croatia has to the glamour of the Cote d'Azur and attracts celebrities, the yachting fraternity and cocktail imbibers of all descriptions, along with paparazzi hoping to catch a glimpse of someone famous transiting from yacht to one of the ritzy clubs. CARPE DIEM: This legendary bar/club was opened in 1999 and is still the iconic institution of the island. It is perfect for some stylish relaxation during the daytime, soulful tunes for the apres-beach crowd from 5pm and then the DJs strut their stuff through the night ... ready to start all over again the next day. This is the VIP hangout upon which the Hvar hype is based.

HULA HULA: Another place for daytime partying and post-beach relaxing with comfortable wooden lounges, fringed umbrellas and a wooden bar. The owner, an Austrian by the name of Wolf, is a local character who brings his own concepts to Hvar. It is one of the few spots in Hvar where you can watch the sun as it sets into the sea while sipping on a cocktail listening to chilled music.

BB CLUB: Part of the Riva Hotel (otherwise known as the yacht harbour hotel), this trendy venue has a fantastic outdoor terrace area with its sofas set under cream canopies. Overlooking the harbour it dominates the quayside and is a great place to while away the late afternoon basking in the sun. Later in the evening the crowd moves to the smart indoor bar for classy cocktails.

PORTO CERVO

This Italian seaside village retreat in northern Sardinia is the sublime setting for one of the best summer party places. As well as people, such as Silvio Berlusconi, having holiday villas here it is also jam-packed with superyachts and gin palaces. Helicopters are a regular choice of transportation. It has grown enormously since Aga Khan developed this resort for the rich in the 60s. The island itself is savage, wild and rugged however Porto Cervo rocks a glamour and laid-back style that is quintessentially Italian and adored by the chic celebs and fashionable jetsetters. Earlier in the evening this is the place to eat with two restaurants, one poolside and the other on the rooftop. After midnight the DJs kick in and Ferraris and Lamborghinis line up at the front door. VIP ROOM: This Paris-born brand with outposts in St. Tropez to Dubai is midway between Phi Beach and Porto Cervo, and brings a good measure of Francophile flair to this recent addition to the jetset map. With its own small marina and luxury hotel the lounge now features a DJ booth with dance floor and a terrace overlooking the fashionable harbour.

AQUA LOUNGE: This terrace lounge and restaurant is one of the most stylish in town featuring natural stone accents against white ceilings and walls, pastel cushioning and oversized circular lounges. MONACO

No place is associated with glamourous Mediterranean party atmosphere as much as this section of the French Riviera. From the celebrity yacht parties during the Cannes Film Festival to the adrenaline and fun of the Monaco Grand Prix, the area comes alive from May to September.
