8 of the Prettiest Places to Charter in The Mediterranean this Summer

The Mediterranean's allure is based on many things - its long and varied history, its colourful, tasty cuisine, the stunning, sun-filled villages and the relaxed lifestyle. It is also incredibly beautiful. Here are some of the most photogenic places we recommend for a luxury yacht charter in 2022.

1. The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is renowned throughout the world for the unique beauty of its landscapes. Twisting roads winding through rocky cliffs reveal tantalising glimpses of small villages, secluded bays, and inlets, all looking out over a clear blue sea. Lush green Mediterranean flora colours the slopes of the surrounding hills and cliffs. This journey leads you to towns of worldwide fame such as Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello.

2. Zakynthos, Greece

Zakynthos, or Zante as it is known in Italian, is a gorgeous Ionian island and one of the most popular in Greece. Most of the tourism is focused on the eastern and southeast coasts but beyond that there is a magnificent natural landscape with forested mountains plummeting down to sparkling turquoise waters; fabulous beaches and green hillsides covered with flowers in spring and early summer. It's no wonder the Italians called this island "the Flower of the East". It is also home to Navagio Beach or Shipwreck Beach, one of the most photographed in beaches in the Med if not the world!

3. Dubrovnik, Croatia

If you are cruising the southern Croatian coast then you should really not miss the magnificent walled city that is Dubrovnik. While the prosperity of the city was originally based on maritime trade today's visitors come to play. The medieval fortifications protect a charming pedestrian-only old town with a myriad of twisting marbled lanes, baroque buildings, quirky cafes and top-notch restaurants. Add to this palaces and cathedrals, monasteries and museums plus the sparkling Adriatic Sea on the doorstep it is easy to understand why Dubrovnik is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea.

4. Cinque Terre, Italy

The Italian Riviera has plenty of rugged coastline and romantic towns and villages, but along a beautifully remote 6-mile kink the five (cinque) fishing villages of the Cinque Terre are its most iconic and seductive highlight. This mostly mountainous stretch of the Riviera kept these tiny towns incredibly isolated for centuries and even to this day, while tourism has come and given this area a prosperity it never had in the past, there is still a feeling of relaxed genuineness to the place. And with few roads or cars and stunningly conserved architecture these villages tucked in amongst the mountains are postcard-perfect.

5. Santorini, Greece

Great poets have sung its praises during Santorini's 4,000 year history. Crescent-shaped Santorini (or Thíra), is the precious gem of the Aegean and one of the must-see for charter yacht guests. There are not many places in the world where you can enjoy exquisitely clear waters while perched on the rim of a massive active volcano in the middle of the sea! Santorini is also blessed with seaside treasures: deep blue waters and beaches with white, red or black sand or volcanic pebbles, spectacular rock formations and impressive lunar landscapes.

6. Corsica, France

Bonifacio

Visiting Corsica you will behold landscapes that are varied and awe-inspiring: from the mountainous terrain of Cap Corse, inlets lined by glowing red rocks on the Western coast, steep chalk cliffs and deep fjords in the South, to long sandy beaches on the East coast between Bastia and Solenzara. And then there are the man-made attractions: Romanesque chapels in Castagniccia, baroque churches in Bastia, the fortifications of Bonifacio, or the citadel of Calvi; history has left its imprint everywhere. It is a stunning gem of an island and a luxury charter yacht paradise.

7. Bay of Kotor, Montenegro

Backed by impressively imposing mountains this bay is nature at its mind-blowing best. It is Europe's most southern fjord and the deep inlet hides a number of picture-perfect tiny medieval towns, with the charming cobbled streets and fortified walls. There are commanding cliffs dropping into the bluest of waters, knock-out island monasteries and breathtaking citadels. While lesser known than some of the other places in this list don't be mistaken this is one place you definitely do not want to miss!

8. Ibiza, Spain

Better known for a party destination than for its prettiness Ibiza, the white island, is incredibly photogenic with several lovely places to photograph. It is an island of contrasts home to fine white sand beaches, traditional architecture as well as the famous nighclubs. There are places of pristine natural beauty such as the part beach/part protected park of Las Salinas or the more secret bay of Cala Xarraca with crystal clear seas, lush green woodlands, some startling barren red cliffs and dotted with white houses. And the UNESCO World Heritage site of Dalt Vila in Ibiza town, home to medieval ramparts and a beautiful cathedral, provide some of the best views around. Not to mention the spectacular sunsets for which Ibiza is also famous.
