The Amalfi Coast is renowned throughout the world for the unique beauty of its landscapes. Twisting roads winding through rocky cliffs reveal tantalising glimpses of small villages, secluded bays, and inlets, all looking out over a clear blue sea. 2. Zakynthos, Greece

Zakynthos, or Zante as it is known in Italian, is a gorgeous Ionian island and one of the most popular in Greece. Most of the tourism is focused on the eastern and southeast coasts but beyond that there is a magnificent natural landscape with forested mountains plummeting down to sparkling turquoise waters; fabulous beaches and green hillsides covered with flowers in spring and early summer. And the UNESCO World Heritage site of Dalt Vila in Ibiza town, home to medieval ramparts and a beautiful cathedral, provide some of the best views around.
