Norway has a huge coastline offering an amazing variety of impressive cruising grounds. It is a country of outstanding natural beauty and it is not surprising that the fjords are a prominent feature in the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is the land of the midnight sun and even in the lower latitudes summer offers many hours of sunshine to enjoy. 

One popular itinerary covers the calm waters of the lower western fjords between Stavanger and Bergen. Both these towns are charming, combining old world history with modern shopping and nightlife, making them the perfect bookends to a week where you will be immersed in nature. Your breath will be taken away by the awe-inspiring fjords of Lysefjorden, Jøsenfjorden and Erfjorden. While the landscapes may seem wild and untamed, the fjords are a delight to explore. The area is dotted with small villages, and trails for mountain hikes are plentiful.  Alternatively adrenaline-junkies can take advantage of a range of activities including zip lining, white water rafting and abseiling.   

Further North far above the Arctic Circle the Lofoten Islands are a unique wilderness region known for majestic mountains and wild nature. Fishing is still a vital part of the economy and there are picturesque small fishing villages spread throughout. It is also one of the world's northernmost surfing destinations. In addition to the deep calm fjords the Lofotens also have long surf-swept beaches that are warmed by the Gulf Stream giving the area a much milder climate than many other places at the same latitude. The staggering beauty has been an endless source of inspiration for photographers and artists for generations.
