WEATHER: The island enjoys a very pleasant tropical climate, warm and relatively dry throughout the year. Tropical storms and hurricanes may occur between June and November.

CULTURAL: Dress is informal unless specifically requested. It is not acceptable to wear revealing clothing or beachwear in towns or villages. It is an offense for anyone, including children, to dress in camouflage clothing. When it comes to greetings, relatives and good friends generally embrace while for acquaintances a handshake will be enough. Smoking is generally accepted in public places.
