Exclusive Highlights of the 2024 Greek Charter Show

The 9th Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) returned to Nafplion, 27 April to 1 May 2024. Organised by the Greek Yachting Association MEDYS this show has proven to be one of the most influential and essential events on the yearly charter industry calendar.

Named after Nafplios, son of the ancient Greek god of the sea, Poseidon, Nafplion is just two hours’ drive from Athens. Once the capital of Greece from 1829-1834, the town dates back to the Neolithic period and is surrounded by the world heritage sites of Epidaurus and Mycenae. Its pristine beaches and beautifully preserved architecture from the Medieval and Byzantine eras attract thousands of tourists to its shores.

This year, over 100 luxury charter yachts 24-metres and above were on display for brokers to view. The team from Luxury Charter Group inspected these vessels, meeting with crews and noting the points of difference among the yachts. These are some of the standout luxury charter yachts we saw at MEDYS 2024:

RARE DIAMOND

106ft (32.3m) Sanlorenzo luxury charter yacht, RARE DIAMOND is a superb choice for charter, with expansive deck spaces for up to 11 guests.

As well sunpads at the bow, RARE DIAMOND offers charter guests space to spread out and enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine on the sundeck, where there are large sun lounges, lounge, plus undercover bar and dining setting. The aft deck too has a brilliant lounge area for guests to enjoy, with easy access to the swim platform and all the vessel’s watertoys.

The interior of RARE DIAMOND is a study in light and bright colours, with jewel-hued furniture and marine-themed artwork. The saloon and dining are illuminated by large windows. Below decks, there are large skylights that flood the five staterooms with light and incredible views.

For watertoys, RARE DIAMOND is equipped with a Novurania 430 tender, Yamaha 3-seater jetski, three Seabobs, SUPS, inflatable tow toys, wakeboard, waterskis and snorkelling gear. Her six crew are well known for their local knowledge, energy and enthusiasm.

LE VERSEAU

131ft (40m) LE VERSEAU is a superlative Princess Yacht with amazing amenities on board for up to 12 charter guests and is available in the Greek Islands.

The exterior deck spaces provide several options to suit all occasions, from alfresco dining on the upper deck, or a more relaxed informal gathering for drinks on the sundeck lounge, complete with retractable roof. Sunpads on the foredeck are ideal for relaxing and soaking up the Mediterranean sunshine.

The aft deck comprises lounge seating with access to the cavernous beach club and garage that stores all the watertoys.

The décor inside LE VERSEAU is slick and modern, with timber flooring and high ceilings, and bespoke Armani and Fendi décor. The main saloon comprises lounge and formal dining, with fold-out verandas on both sides for guests to enjoy cocktails at sunset, or quiet repose above the waterline. The upper saloon/media room boasts a 75-inch Smart screen for movie nights.

ALMYRA II

ALMYRA II is a 164ft (50m) Perini Navi luxury charter sailing yacht that offers 12 charter guests the experience of cruising under sail (unique carbon sails), combining high- performance racing with the comfort of an ocean cruiser.

On deck, guests can spread out and enjoy a massive foredeck, and spacious aft deck with a brilliant set-up for alfresco dining, as well as semi-circular seating area and sunpads. Then there’s the beach club with watertoys and tenders for guests to enjoy.

ALMYRA II’s classic interior comprises main saloon with lounge and large flatscreen TV, as well as separate formal dining room and bar. The versatile layout accommodates 12 guests in five cabins all with ensuites. The flexible arrangement offers the option of converting the fifth stateroom into a master suite lounge or office.

O’MATHILDE 

A custom-built, three-deck superyacht from Golden Yachts, O’MATHILDE is a 184ft (56m) luxury charter yacht with opulent accommodation for up to 12 guests and impeccable features, available in the Greek Islands and Turkey.

On deck, there are several spaces dedicated to entertaining and socialising: the main aft deck with large table and seating, the upper aft deck which is ideal for alfresco meals and the foredeck section near the wheelhouse which offers an intimate space with unrivalled views while underway or at anchor.

The Art Deco-inspired décor is reminiscent of a boutique hotel and comprises a palette of opulent finishes and materials, polished timbers, leather, stainless steel and dramatic LED lighting throughout. There is a spacious lounge section and additional ‘club style’ arrangement with large flatscreen TV, while the separate formal dining area has seating for 14 guests.

Befitting this luxury hotel afloat, O’MATHILDE has a fully equipped outdoor gym area and separate office, jacuzzi on the sun deck and state-of-the-art AV for high-tech entertainment.

There are seven lavish guests’ cabins including the 70-square-metre main stateroom on the upper deck, full-beam VIP with king-size bed, sofa and ensuite with jacuzzi bathtub on the main deck and on the lower deck, three double and two twin rooms.

BOJI

141ft (43m) BOJI is a head-turning luxury charter yacht built in Italy and a fantastic choice for charter, with outstanding amenities on board for up to 12 guests.

A prominent feature is her brilliant Portuguese deck at the bow, with access from the bridge deck aft and side doors from the upper saloon. Here, guests can relax and enjoy the sunshine or alfresco dining in the evening.

The main aft deck comprises comfortable lounge seating with easy access to the swim platform and garage full of watertoys. Above, on the bridge deck, there’s another lounge and undercover dining setting, and the sundeck boasts additional seating, bar, grill, and a jacuzzi surrounded by sunpads for total relaxation.

The laid-back luxury of BOJI’S interiors feature elegant timber decking, large windows and various spaces for relaxation or socialising, depending on the occasion. The main saloon comprises lounge, bar and formal dining space.

While the upper skylounge is dedicated to entertaining, with a large flatscreen TV for movie nights or watching the game. Guests will be spoilt for choice with five large cabins, including master stateroom on the main deck with chaise lounge, office, panoramic windows for incredible views and spacious ensuite. Then there are two double and two twin, one of which is a convertible.

SANCTUARY

A classic Oceano 43 from Mangusta, 141ft SANCTUARY provides all the comforts and 5- star amenities on board for up to 10 charter guests in total luxury.

Multiple deck spaces have been designed for relaxation and socialising, and include an expansive foreward deck with dip pool and sunpads for lounging in style, as well as a sundeck with large lounge area, undercover dining and bar.

The bridge deck aft area features yet another lounge, dining and bar area, while the main aft deck has a dining space for 12 and is a great place to watch guests enjoy the watertoys launched from the massive swim platform below.

The Beach Club is a cool spot at the water’s edge to enjoy a dip or a drink at the bar. SANCTUARY boasts sophisticated interiors by Alberto Mancini with large floor to ceiling windows in the main deck saloon for natural light and views.

The monochrome interiors are chic and timeless in the lounge area, with a separate formal dining space that enjoys the same panoramic vistas.
