A Luxury yacht charter ticks all the boxes on the vacation list: exotic islands, occasional port visits, remote anchorages, family-friendly fun, plus all the superlatives of the superyacht lifestyle, minus the complications of ownership, and you don’t have to keep packing and unpacking bags as you move from destination to destination.
Luxury Charter Group is a global company specialising in luxury yacht charter in destinations worldwide, serviced by a professional charter team strategically based in offices in Florida in USA, Europe and Australia. Jeni Tidmarsh, Director, says "Many high-net worth individuals don't want the hassles of owning a yacht," she explains. "They've done the figures and realise they can charter the latest and greatest superyacht for a completely unique vacation, personalised for them, with none of the ongoing expenses of ownership. Chartering a luxury yacht offers walk-on, walk-off convenience," she continues. "There are no maintenance logistics or Crew to manage, no cleaning, no paperwork and no on-going invoices and expenses for berthing and upgrades."
Jeni says that while some of their many international clients own boats or have owned them in the past, the allure of charter is that clients have the freedom to choose any charter destination, anywhere in the world, selecting from a choice of different yachts.
"It's a no-strings relationship," she states. With over 40-years collective experience in the industry, Jeni and her Team are seasoned professionals whose art is in matching their private clients' desires with the yacht of their dreams, in the destination of their dreams. Sharon Bahmer is Charter Executive in USA, and Radek Gendek manages the European Region.
Luxury Charter Group's qualified, experienced brokers are able to make chartering a yacht easy and enjoyable. They work to ensure a totally personalised vacation experience. They handle the documentation, payments, liaising with yacht managers and Captains, client preferences and special requests, making it a seamless experience and so clients get to enjoy just the fun part of the vacation.
"Some of our clients are boat owners but want to cruise somewhere different, perhaps somewhere exotic or far from their own boat's home base. We have a client from upstate New York who charters annually. He owns a 68-foot game fisher that sits in Florida. Over the years he has chartered superyachts in the Caribbean, Greece and last year in the South of France to coincide with the Monaco Grand Prix. On that occasion, he chartered a new, 130-foot yacht for his family and two other families, and they shared the costs. He called it a 'once-in-a-lifetime experience': to be partying on board their own megayacht in the world's most glamorous marina, trackside, during the F1."

"One of our clients sold the family holiday house a decade ago because they were keen for a change of scenery and unique experience that only time on board a yacht can deliver", Jeni reports, adding that next on their radar is the South Pacific, taking their three adult children and numerous grandkids.
"They want to vacation somewhere remote, exotic and above all, away from cities and crowds, somewhere only accessible by yacht, where they can experience the tranquillity of tropical islands, marine life and the local customs and culture . . . all in the lap of luxury of course, with wi-fi and a fully-equipped office on board so they're not too far from business if they need to connect."
The beauty of a charter yacht vacation is that you can explore a region at your own pace, without ever needing to repack and haul luggage, battle the tourists or catch taxis between destinations.
"Whatever kind of vacation you're looking for – be it active watersports with all the high-tech toys, lazing on deck with just a book and the sea breeze, a spa and well-being experience, gourmet cuisine or a cultural odyssey, we'll suggest a selection of yachts best suited to your criteria, which can also be influenced by the expertise of the Captains and Crew. You'll enjoy a thoroughly-personalised itinerary tailored to your preferences.
"Your private yacht charter is your own private hotel afloat ... Compared to travelling first-class on an exclusive cruise ship, the ratio of crew to guests is higher on a private yacht, and with your own onboard chef, plus private charter guests get to enjoy all the gear and gadgets onboard to themselves.
"Yachts these days come complete with high-power tenders, jetskis, flyboards, waterslides, theatre screens, media rooms, dive equipment – you name it, we can find a yacht to fulfil your wishes!"
Keeping pace with new additions to the global charter fleet is paramount. Jeni and her team attend charter shows in Genoa, Greece, Turkey, Cannes, Monaco, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, BVI and Antigua every year, to inspect the yachts, meet the Captains, Crews and managers and savour the culinary genius of their chefs. "This is imperative so we know their points of difference, their movements and itineraries. My team and I personally inspect over 400 yachts a year at international charter shows worldwide."

The final word belongs to a Washington couple, Donald and Tina, who were "overwhelmed" by their recent charter experience in the Leeward Islands, cruising St Martin and St Barts. "We couldn't believe how much there was to do, yet how tranquil it was. It was like living on an island, with a one-to-one ratio of crew to guests. There was plenty to occupy our time, yet there were no distractions. On board, our whole family could spend quality time together, with enough activities and space on board for each of us to enjoy some quiet time – or noisy time in the case of the kids and the yacht's inflatables! We completely relaxed from day one and by the end of the week, we vowed to do this again in the winter. Back home now, we're looking over our pictures, reliving all the wonderful meals, and our thoughts float to the horizon."
