Luxury Charter whets the appetite of Gen Y
Gen Y, known as Millennials, are those born post-1980 to 2000 – the first digital generation, at ease with social media and relying on friends, Facebook and celebrity posts for their next big adventure. And luxury yacht charter ticks all the boxes!
Fantastic, full-colour, instagrammable scenes in tropical and exotic destinations onboard some of the world's most magnificent boats, with none of the responsibilities of ownership – these are the pinnacle of vacation aims for a generation who prize experiences over possessions.
As KPMG demographer, Bernard Salt explains: "Possessions don't excite them – unless it's their phones and devices. They are less likely to drive cars and own a house. They don't want to be tied down by the bonds of ownership as their own parents were."
Well-travelled and totally connected, this group is au fait with Uber and AirB&B and have a rapacious appetite for new experiences that show they are free-spirited and global.
Not for them the bills associated with owning a superyacht, crewing, fuel, berthing and maintenance. Millennials want no-strings attached to anything and above all, want to share the peak of life's experiences with the people closest to them, their group of 10 or so friends – wherever in the world they happen to be at a certain time, chasing the sun or good times.

Yacht charter delivers far-flung, remote locations like Tahiti and New Zealand as well as highly urbane destinations – think Monaco and Cannes – high-tech gadgets, fast and fabulous watertoys and bespoke itineraries, menus and events such as the Grand Prix, Olympics or Cannes Film Festival.
Dipping into a slice of life that has all the glamour of a Bond movie, embodying exquisite performance motor yachts or the romance of yachting under sail, dedicated crew to anticipate your every need, Jacuzzis, spas and onboard Chefs customising every aspect of your charter vacation – what could be better to express "My Fabulous Life" – which is the mantra for the quintessential Millennial.
