Named after the Roman Goddess of the Dawn, AURORA is now under the stewardship of new owners, and has recently undergone a complete refit that elevated her to unrivalled levels of charter luxury.
Long-time charterers themselves, her current owners – a property developer specialising in restoring heritage buildings and a conference/event specialist – have spent many years travelling the globe and chartering aboard the most sumptuous superyachts and gulets in the Mediterranean.
They purchased AURORA with the intention of making upgrades to suit their aesthetic and lifestyle, but that soon developed into something grander. “She was in fine condition,” the Owner continues. “Then we took her out for three weeks around Sydney and realised she deserved a lot more. The refit budget was increased substantially. We decided to go in boots and all, as they say.”
Some of Australia’s most esteemed craftspeople and marine trade specialists were commissioned to breathe new life into this sturdy superyacht: Super Yacht Solutions, O’Neill Shipwrights, Workshop 28, Lumark, Pacific Trim upholstery, Italian linen and Ralph Lauren fabrics from Analu, Antique carpets from Cadreys, adding the finest teak, new swim platform, bar, foredeck dining space, aft deck bimini, new cinema, TVs, sound system and electronics, barbecue, day beds, umbrellas, watertoys – the works!
Collaborating with architect Iain Halliday of BKH, renowned for fitout, conversions and refurbishments of inner-city icons such as the Rex Hotel, Arida, Dorchester, the Ikon and Kingsclere, the new owners are taking a very hands-on approach to the refit.
“We’re both fastidious about details. We had the vision of AURORA becoming a wonderful boat for our family and a superb charter vessel. We refitted her for us, but with several weeks set aside each year to share our beautiful boat with others.”
“Our aim is for AURORA to be the most luxurious and sought-after charter yacht under 100ft in Australia and the South Pacific, to be offered to a select few, those seeking a truly unique travel experience based on extraordinary service, food, wine, water sports and destinations.”
“AURORA is exceptional, not just for her appearance and onboard amenities, but also for the carefully curated bespoke experiences we offer. For example, charters for foodies that really focus on cuisine, and that can include a bush tucker experience, catch and cook your own seafood, a Greek-themed beach party, walks such as the one to Tongue Point with amazing views of the shifting sands of Hill Inlet or diving among the magnificent coral bomboras in the Whitsundays.”
AURORA has four superbly appointed cabins ideal for up to 8 guests and ample deck spaces devoted to privacy and leisure. The aft deck offers a bar and dining for up to eight guests. Up front, the bow bathes in full sunlight and is perfect for sun lounging and a sunset cheese platter. The flybridge offers dining for eight guests, it also has a daybed, an additional sunpad, BBQ and a flybridge lounge that offers perfect viewing for sunset cruises.
For day trips and island hopping, AURORA will be equipped with two tenders: a 4m BRIG tender and a 10m BRIG chase boat fitted with twin 300hp engines for some real get up and go!
“We are also serious about minimising our impact on the environment, so we have the latest high-tech Hamann wastewater purification systems, we will insist on no single use plastics. Toiletries onboard will be from ‘Grown Alchemist’, an eco-friendly, organic Australian range.”
“We’re hoping to really open up new horizons enabling Australians to enjoy true luxury charter on our doorstep and international tourists to discover all the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef have to offer.
