Our Pick of the Luxury Yachts at the 2018 MYBA Barcelona Charter Show

This year marks the event's 30th anniversary, and second year of being presented in state-of-the-art waterfront facilities, a world-class home port for superyachts perfectly positioned in the heart of Barcelona. Originally built for the 1992 Olympic Games, the marina recently completed its transformation to a 148-berth luxury facility, creating the ultimate destination for yachts up to 190 metres.

This unique professional trade show brings together the world's leading yacht charter professionals and service providers in a world-acclaimed celebration of yachting. One of the highlights of the show is the chefs' competition, where superyacht chefs compete for a much-coveted trophy, equivalent to a Michelin star in the nautical world.

The team from Luxury Charter Group will attend the MYBA Charter Show, followed by the Mediterranean Yacht Show in Nafplion, Greece 28 April - 1 May, and then back to Barcelona for the LYBRA Superyacht Show, 2 to 5 May.

Among the impressive luxury charter vessels on display at this year's MYBA Charter Show, here is our selection of some of the most exceptional.

ALFA NERO

This iconic, multi-award winning 269ft (82m) ultra-luxurious charter yacht is the product of designers and built by the Dutch yard, Oceanco. The stunning Alberto Pinto interior design features an innovative pool that transforms into a helipad, ample deck areas dedicated to leisure and well-being and a superlative spa, complete with sun terrace.

The huge master suite has a private deck and jacuzzi, while on the top deck, with views through 180-degree windows, ALFA NERO'S gym is equipped with state of the art equipment and jacuzzi. Guests can choose to train inside or out, and the fully qualified crew are on hand to assist with any health and fitness support.

On the lower deck, the spa is a sanctuary of well-being with a fully qualified therapist available for a range of massages, treatments, hair and beauty services using the finest luxury products.

An array of tenders, toys and sports equipment is stored in side-opening garages with gull-wing doors, leaving huge expanses of open deck space. The entire aft section is dedicated to guests' enjoyment of seascape with gently descending teak steps and platforms.

AIAXAIA

Designed and built for charter, the 46m (151ft) luxury sailing superyacht AIAXAIA has an impeccable pedigree; built by the Ercegović family, who have been mariners since the 19th century and who are well-known in the sailing world for the sistership and charter yacht, NAVILUX.

AIAXAIA is a floating 5-star hotel and the flag bearer of a new generation of luxury charter yachts available in Croatia. AIAXAIA boasts six generously proportioned guest cabins, each with ensuite, safe, flat screen TV, surround sound system, air conditioning and room service.

AIAXAIA has spacious decks for complete relaxation, a Jacuzzi on the flybridge, sauna, several lounge areas, an array of watertoys, your personal onboard Chef, and personalised service from her experienced crew. The air-conditioned spacious saloon has a large plasma TV and superb seating for 12. From the saloon is access to the sauna and office. Guests can make use of Wifi and wired internet, an office area, a state-of-the-art entertainment system and much more.

The aft deck is massive and ideal for meals and relaxing, while the flybridge comprises a lounge area with bar and sunpads for soaking up the sunshine and the views.

Watertoys onboard AIAXAIA include two 6m dinghies with 150 HP outboard motors, Waverunners, stand up paddleboards, kayaks, tow toys and inflatables, waterskis, snorkeling equipment, fishing gear, gym equipment and bicycles for onshore exploration.

PLANET NINE

The largest superyacht to date from the Italian Sea Group (Admiral) is the five-deck, 73.2 metre ice-class explorer mega yacht PLANET NINE, featuring accommodation for 12 across six spacious guest staterooms, including a 300-square-metre master suite which covers an entire deck and comprises two cabins and a central lounge.

The entire upper deck is dedicated to guests with four further cabins and a panoramic observatory lounge afore of the on board cinema room and its 112-inch screen.

Other attributes include on deck jacuzzi and elevators connecting all five decks and providing discreet crew access. The aft tender garage houses a pair of 9.75 metre Rupert Marine tenders, while the large Beach Club boasts an indulgent spa area for guests' total relaxation.

PLANET NINE comes with an MD 902 Explorer helicopter, hangar and landing, allowing her guests to take full advantage of the chopper for Mediterranean exploration: ski slopes today, dive sites tomorrow.

The forward observation lounge of PLANET NINE offers 180-degree panoramic views. Floor-to-ceiling glass features across the yacht and there is a cinema below the observation lounge. The guest deck has its own entrance and lobby at the stern of the yacht. Adjacent to the five double suites is the steam room and Beach Club with its spectacular sea terrace.

For the fitness focused, PLANET NINE has a well-equipped gym onboard and massive garage filled with PWCs, Seabobs, paddle boards, surfboards, diving equipment and inflatable tow toys.

Following her inaugural season in the Mediterranean, PLANET NINE will embark on a global adventure, with destinations open to her fortunate charter guests such as Patagonia, Fiji, Indonesia, the Maldives, UAE, Greenland, Alaska, Antarctica, New Zealand, Palau, Europe, the Caribbean, Sea of Cortez and Galapagos.

ELIXIR

55m (180ft) ELIXIR is an impressive example of an AMELS 180 design, a fully custom-build incorporating all the features discerning charter guests could demand for a truly epic charter experience. Designer Tim Heywood and interior designer Laura Sessa created ELIXIR's unique blend of contrasts: dark meets light; masculine worldliness meets curvaceous elegance; relaxed comfort meets clean contemporary style.

Luxury charter yacht ELIXIR accommodates 12 guests in five staterooms, including a master suite, one VIP stateroom, one double cabin and two twin cabins.

Generous exterior spaces include a standout sundeck, one of the most spacious ever seen on a 55-metre yacht, with Jacuzzi and backlit onyx bar. In addition, ELIXIR boasts a large master suite with private lounge and study, expansive deck space, cinema and grand piano in the skylounge, sauna and gym, beach club with full range of watertoys, RYA training centre and much more.

JOY

One-of-a-kind luxury charter superyacht JOY is a fully-customised 70m (229' 8") Feadship described by her designers as "a masterful collaboration between two yachting powerhouses, Bannenberg & Rowell" and the prestigious Dutch yard.

A five-deck wonder, JOY boasts radical exterior styling with dramatic concave lines, the artistic use of glass, substantial deck space and cleverly craft indoor/outdoor zones. The elongated foredeck features a recreation space with basketball court so guests can sharpen their shots while friends cheer them on from the comfort of a well-shaded lounge section. At the rear, the transom door transforms into a canopy to cover the sizable swim platform.

With eight suites to accommodate up to 12 guests, an elevator servicing three of the five decks plus an array of facilities dedicated to health and wellbeing, such as a fully-equipped gym, spa room, on board masseuse and Beach Club, JOY is a study in the new era of luxury lifestyle, where health rather than wealth is the main objective.

Inside spaces lead seamlessly out to aft-deck areas through large glass doors, creating air-conditioned 'winter gardens'. On the main deck aft, a table for up to 14 guests provides dining sheltered from the elements while still enjoying uninterrupted views. Opened up, the area becomes a large party space.
