Continuing the tradition, the Lagoon Seventy 8 “Galaxy Big Sister” seeks a new owner for limitless ocean adventures.
Commanding attention at the marina for her elegant profile and impressive 36-foot (11-metre) beam, the Lagoon Seventy 8 “Galaxy Big Sister” (GBS) is 24-metres of palatial luxury, fit for long-range family cruising, entertaining and ideal for charter.
Like all Lagoon cats, the Seventy 8 features symmetrical double hulls, keel-like foils that protect the rudders and propellors, a shallow draft for accessing shallow waterways, a state-of-the-art electrical system, precision joinery by skilled craftspeople and impeccable styling that can be customised to suit every owner.
Designed by the great names in naval architecture: VPLP, Patrick Le Quément and Nauta Design, the Seventy 8 power cat is modelled on the Lagoon Seventy 7 sailing cat, a popular choice for luxury charter in the Caribbean and South Pacific.
The sublime sailing cat, BABAC, available for charter in Tahiti in 2021, is the largest sailing cat ever built by Lagoon and a true superyacht.
This Seventy 8 was delivered in 2018 to its Australian owner – a seasoned yacht owner who oversaw the custom-building of this unique vessel. Truly one of a kind, she boasts unmatched interior volume with easy flow from deck to saloon.
The massive flybridge comprises a large folding dining table to starboard, magnificent sunbathing area forward, and a hard top-bimini with a roof that opens at the click of a button.
The main helm is located on the flybridge, flanked by additional seating and sunpads. For entertaining and enjoying time at anchor, this versatile space boasts fridges, bar, electric grill and ice maker. Conveying its decadence and devotion to leisure, GBS boasts a dizzying 108 cushions throughout the yacht!
The foredeck is the ultimate entertainment space. At 322-square-feet (30m²) the forward platform provides an expanse for recreation, sunbathing, or even a dance floor, while the sunken ‘nook’ is an inviting space for breakfast, sunset cocktails or for watching movies under the stars.
Another superb feature is the doorway access from this sunken entertainment area which leads directly into the saloon, further enhancing the seamless flow of the yacht.
The aft cockpit, with views from every angle, has a day bed, large banquette seating, wet bar, fridge, ice marker and a dining table, plus access to the galley for crew convenience.
The Seventy 8’s tenderlift platform linking the two sections of transom creates the perfect spot for launching watertoys, stowing the vessel’s tender or for guests, reclining at the water’s edge. The wide dual staircases flow to walkaround decks.
Inside, the ergonomic helm station to port fits seamlessly within the décor. The spacious saloon features a generous-sized dining table for eight to 10 people on the port side, and a large c-shaped lounge to starboard. The TV is concealed in the grey-oak cabinetry, which is complemented by wenge timber detail and plush carpet. The standing head height is 2.1m and LED lighting are controlled by remote.
There’s a second lounge area forward, which would be a pleasant spot for meals or card games, with access to the foredeck. Doors and large windows provide light and ventilation, as well as creating the feeling of bringing the outside in.
Below decks, this mighty multihull uses the full expanse of its hull to accommodate guests, crew and the professional Chef’s galley.
This custom-built Lagoon comprises one massive owner’s stateroom, two VIP suites, crew cabin, and two additional cabins for crew/kids – accommodation for up to 12. For charter this layout would be suitable for 8 guests and 4 crew. The magnificent owner’s suite is independent of the rest of the vessel, with king-sized bed, ensuite, desk, walk-in robe with ample hanging space, drawers and safe. Large portholes ensure guests enjoy the views day and night. The Seventy 8 features USB outlets, LED lighting and air-conditioning throughout.
The crew cabin (or children’s cabin) is adjacent to the galley. The VIP stateroom and adjoining ensuite has been customised with kids’ bunk beds.
In terms of propulsions, the Seventy 8 is equipped with twin 510hp engines delivering a top speed of 19 knots. The vessel has a range of 4,000 nautical miles and 8,500 Litre fuel capacity.
The Williams diesel jet tender is stored on the transom.
There has been a worldwide surge in popularity for power catamarans. Lagoon’s Seventy 8 MY production in Bordeaux is booked solid until the end of 2021. With only four others on the water today, this model represents an opportunity to purchase a unique and in-demand product, available now for the price of Euro 4.3 million, an estimated approximate saving of 2 million AUD on a vessel of the same standard.
