ISS (International Superyacht Society) has announced winners of the 2017 Design & Leadership Awards. Representing superlative achievement in design, engineering, technology, refits and service to the industry, the Awards were presented 1 November at the 27th Anniversary of ISS’s Awards Gala in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, ahead of the 2017 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

MY AQUILA
MY AQUILA was awarded BEST REFIT, following a thorough 12-month revamp performed by Pendennis Shipyard and Redman Whiteley Dixon/Susan Young Interiors.
85.5m (281ft) AQUILA is a Lloyds classified luxury charter yacht built in 2010 by Derecktor and originally called CAKEWALK. She is the largest yacht yet to be refitted in the UK, and the scope of the work undertaken included an impressive revitalisation of all five deck levels. To facilitate the extent of design and technical changes required, the interiors on Aquila needed to be stripped back to bulkheads across most areas. The team completely updated the social spaces, modernised technical systems and lighting, and restyled the boat across an area of over 750m² – the scale of which was unprecedented in such a short time period, according to all suppliers involved.
Significant enhancements included reconfiguring the Owner's suite along with the addition of a 60m² private deck area, repositioning the Jacuzzi to the forward Sun Deck, and integrating a cinema into the main saloon. Technology upgrades as part of the yacht's five-year survey included a new AV and IT system, radomes, air conditioning and fresh air handling systems, along with the rebuild of the four generators. A complete infrastructure repaint by Pinmar completed the refit works.
AQUILA won the same award at the World Superyacht Awards held in Florence in May 2017.

CHASSEUR
Delivered in 2016, MY CHASSEUR is a 48.8m (160ft) luxury charter yacht built by Christensen Shipyards with interiors by Varro Interior Design.
CHASSEUR won BEST POWER in the 40 to 65m category, recognised for its chic, contemporary interior design, using materials such as milk-glazed sycamore walls, teak and holly hardwood flooring, with rosewood joinery, with shagreen panels bisecting the main saloon and formal dining area. Her hardwood floors are softened by area rugs of the finest silks and wool, and walls are adorned with prints by celebrated photographers Terry O'Neill, Greg Lotus, and Acey Harper.
CHASSEUR'S main stairwell is a sculptural work of art showcasing glass and woven leather walls with floating glass treads. Her six luxurious staterooms with ensuite bathrooms will comfortably accommodate 12 guests.
Her key features include a vast selection of watertoys, Portuguese bridge and foredeck areas for entertaining and enjoying unimpeded Mediterranean or Caribbean views, an elevator linking all four decks, Jacuzzi, and zero speed stabilisers.
