With numerous direct flights daily from Los Angeles and San Francisco, and one of the lowest COVID-19 rates globally, Tahiti is a safe and easy place to travel. Now is the perfect time to book your private luxury yacht charter there as DOUCE FRANCE, one of the world’s largest luxury sailing catamarans available for charter, is currently based in this remote and enchanting South Pacific paradise.
Luxury Charter Group has spent many years exploring these magical islands and we're ready to share our local knowledge with you.
THE DESTINATION: TAHITI
There are five main island groups from the Marquesas in the north, the Tuamotu atolls, Society and the Leeward Islands to the more remote Australes in the south. They each have their own character and charm with the most well known being the Society Islands of Moorea and Bora Bora.
Geographically the Leeward Islands are majestic volcanic landscapes covered in lush tropical vegetation. Each island rises steeply from its lagoon and is circled by a protecting outer coral reef. Dotting the reef, small uninhabited motus (islets) are fringed by white sandy beaches and lush green coconut palms. The most popular charter itinerary is between Huahine and Bora Bora.
In total contrast are The Tuamotu Islands, which are a collection of low atolls. Each island encircles its own lagoon with a ring of coral and beneath the clear waters are spectacular underwater gardens and a myriad of marine life.
Most of these small islets in the making have a pass entrance with some having small local communities existing quietly in paradise while others are attracting tourists to new 5-star resorts. The Tuamotus are becoming more sought after for the luxury crewed yacht charterer seeking that unique ultimate paradise.
The French Polynesian islands enjoy a year round tropical climate but it's best to charter when the trade winds are blowing between April and October. Between the months of November and March it's the hot wet season, when it's very hot and humid with less breeze, so you'll enjoy the air-conditioning on board!
On land and in the sea, there is a plethora of natural wonders to enchant visitors and welcoming locals that embody the Polynesian and French influences in a beautiful blend of culture and cuisine.
Authors rhapsodise about the 118 islands that are cast over the crystalline sea like jewels and you too can experience the vacation of your dreams on a luxury charter yacht such as DOUCE FRANCE.
At 42.2 metres DOUCE FRANCE is the largest schooner sailing catamaran in the world. She has the ability to sail at a constant 22 knots in a 28 knot breeze, and regularly achieves 15 knots in 20 knots of wind. Her twin diesel engines also allow her to silently cruise at up to 12 knots, with a very economical cruise speed of around 10 knots.
However speed is just one element on DOUCE FRANCE ... above all she is a cruising superyacht. Her interior is elegant and simple with a colonial ambience created by the use of mahogany and rosewood furniture on the main deck.
By contrast the staterooms are decorated in pale sycamore and all 6 conveniently convert to either double or twin rooms all with ensuites.
Charter guests have a choice of three dining areas: the spacious cockpit pleasantly shaded by the deckhouse; the more intimate lounge for the cooler evenings. or the aft teak deck for dining under the stars.
The 250-bottle cave à vin of select wines will please the most discerning charter guest and compliment the flavours of cuisine. Unique Douce France tableware from Limoges, enhances the presentation.
With cushioned seating and sunbathing mattresses, the foredeck is a prime setting to relax. Aft access to the water is particularly easy, using the folding stairway.
Tahiti is the place that so enchanted and beguiled artist Paul Gaugin, the backdrop for so many classic films and easily the most picturesque cruising ground in the world.
The locals, along with the professional crew onboard DOUCE FRANCE, are eager to welcome you to their glorious slice of heaven.
