WEATHER: Influenced by winds and temperature moderated by mountains. Average summer temperatures 25C-35C (77F-95F). The sea does not warm up until early June but comfortable swimming temperatures prevail until mid-October. Corsica enjoys the most hrs of sunshine per year in France with an average of 7.5 hr/day.

AIRPORTS: There are four airports on the island: Ajaccio (AJA), Bastia (BIA), Calvi (CLY) and Figari (FSC).

CURRENCY: Euro (EUR); American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa should be widely accepted, however there are still small shops, restaurants and hotels where they are not acceptable. It is recommended to carry cash, money exchange available in banks.

CULTURAL: It is appreciated if visitors speak a few words of French. Smoking is not allowed in public and fines are high.
