2016 Monaco Yacht Show Review

It was a most successful show for our Team, and the ideal opportunity for us to reconnect with international clients, contacts, crews and colleagues, enjoying excellent hospitality in the Principality and onboard some of the world's most impressive superyachts, including the show standout superyacht, Heesen's Galactica Super Nova.

Here are our impressions of the 2016 MYS in review:

Award winners

The opening gala ball of the Monaco Yacht Show was held in the historic Salle Belle Époque at Hôtel Hermitage. The Espen Øino-designed and Heesen-built 70m (230ft) fast displacement superyacht GALACTICA SUPER NOVA won the top prize for best interior design and the overall honour of being the winner of the 2016 MYS Finest New Superyacht award.

The largest Heesen build to date, GALACTICA SUPER NOVA has an incredible 357 square metres of deck space. From its luxurious sundeck to the beach club, there are 12 alternatives for guests to choose from, including sunbathing, dining, spa, Jacuzzis, jet-pool or just lounging around in the sun or shade. Built with fixed pitch propellers and a Rolls Royce central booster jet, she is not only fast but also highly manoeuvrable in all sea conditions and extremely quiet.

The winner of the 2016 MYS Exterior Design Award was SYBARIS by Perini Navi. Acclaimed as "one of the stars of the show," SYBARIS was designed in partnership between Perini Navi and Philippe Briand, a 31-time international award winner.

The winner of the 2016 MYS/RINA Award for greenest yacht at the show was Wider Yachts for its 47-metre yacht GENESI. Wider is now working on the larger, 50-metre Project Cecilia.

There were many other impeccable charter yachts and private vessels that came to our attention during the show. We were fortunate to step aboard most of these to meet the Captains and crews and savour the warm hospitality and in some cases, cuisine, so that our clients can trust us to recommend first-hand.

11-11 for charter

World Superyacht Award winner, 11.11. combines innovative design and expert craftsmanship in a sophisticated 63-metre Benetti launched in 2015.

The yacht's distinctive exterior features a unique axe bow with vertical blade for enhanced cruising performance. Custom Art Deco-inspired interiors by the owner's personal design team offer the ultimate in luxurious on-the-water living, including a vast private owner's deck with master suite overlooking a private sundeck.

OURANOS for charter in Greece

OURANOS (50m) built and launched by the the Italian Sea Group, is considered one of the most silent yachts, in terms of noise and vibration levels, below 500 GT, scoring 96 /100 in the Rina Comfort Class Classification

OURANOS' contemporary design maximizes all on board spaces and she is already proving to be a popular choice for charter yacht clients with many advance bookings for 2017.  Able to host 12 charter guests, the yacht's luxury guest accommodation of six cabins includes an impressive master suite and three VIPs. Her light-filled interior is generously proportioned and includes two large saloons.

BLUSH for charter

BLUSH is the 47m (155ft) flagship of the Sunseeker fleet, offering cutting-edge configuration that is spread over three internal decks. A fully open sun deck boasts a Jacuzzi and sunbathing areas and a centrally located bar and dining area, with individual sun lounges. The upper deck offers a spacious saloon with bar area and folding balconies on each side.

PANTHALASSA for charter

Designed for traversing the seven seas, PANTHALASSA's equisite light-infused interior, designed by Foster + Partners takes the yacht into a class of her own. Her main saloon central oval staircase that links all three decks is a design masterpiece in its own right. This versatile sailing superyacht can accommodate 12 guests in six suites, and her dining room converts to a boardroom or cinema, making her ideal for doing business onboard or entertaining the entire family. Attended by an outstanding 10-strong crew, she is a highly popular charter yacht.

LADY B for charter

A Dutch built and Dubois-designed sailing yacht, LADY B boasts bespoke features, including a two-person crow's nest 39m up the mast and a stunning, curved skylight in the owner's suite that leads out to a private cockpit. LADY B's charter-friendly interior has a summerhouse feel and a contemporary, beautifully light split level saloon.

Navetti 37

This new superyacht conveys the values of seaworthiness, comfort, safety and customisation - all part of Custom Line's DNA - into a revolutionary product in terms of style, design and space, placing at the top of its class. The Navetta 37 is 37.04m (121.6ft) with a maximum beam of 8m (26.3ft). It features a new semi-planing hull with a bulbous bow that ensures the utmost efficiency in any sea conditions.

Sunseeker 116 Yacht

Replacing the 115 Yacht, the new 116 Yacht's exterior is defined by curves and straight-edged lines, employing a design formula that has proven successful for Sunseeker over the years. But the 116 carries it a step further, using angular windows to visually join the hull and superstructure in a new way. The profile, equal parts jarring and balanced, exudes a singular elegance—sure to turn heads at any marina.

VANISH

This new Feadship 66.25m is a private yacht and not for available for charter, but certainly worthy of mention. Highlights on this latest scion of the Feadship fleet include a free-standing staircase flanked by a glass wall over three decks, an ingenious extendable balcony for the owner's stateroom and a highly innovative transom design. Like every Feadship, VANISH reflects the wishes and requirements of her owners to an exceptional degree.

KAMINO

This exceptional Feadship, a 34m motoryacht which reinforces the brand's celebrated ability to surprise and delight, is not available for charter. She features a record amount of glass as a proportion of the exterior profile plus an awesome array of features found on much larger Feadships.

KAMINO has a length and draught chosen to allow her owners access to the fjords of Scandinavia and other parts of the world where shallower depths and restricted mooring facilities keep larger superyachts at bay. A ceiling height of 2.45m adds to the sense of spaciousness offered by her large windows.
